Andy Hughes has been writing, recording, and performing his own original music for the last 18 years. For most of that time he has been a songwriter and the front man for the Alternative Reggae/Ska band TUGG. Music has taken Andy to venues and radio stations all around the United States. With his latest “Country-Folk” project, he looks forward to releasing a new record, “Heartland and Heartache” in June 2017. Drawing comparisons to contemporary folk artists like Greg Brown and John Prine, Andy is excited to bring these new songs and sound to light after spending the last fall and winter writing and recording!
Gregg Hall and the Wrecking Ball- the Mrs. Hippie Sessions vol. 1. Recorded on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River in Brownsville, MN. A 5 song EP featuring some of LaCrosse’s best musicians. Good ol Country music.
The Parrishes release their first studio recording
Catherine and Ted Parrish, performing as the Parrishes, have released their new CD: Live in the Studio Volume One. The CD features ten new original songs recorded by the duo.
“Although we’ve played together for years, and recorded before, this is our first disc featuring our original songs” says Catherine. Catherine sings and plays guitar and ukulele, while Ted plays guitar, slide guitar, ukulele and mandolin.
Ted adds “we have a nice collection of songs, so we titled this one ‘volume one’ because there are more in the works.” Recording for Volume Two is slated to begin in June.
Stephen Smith from Soundsmiths Mastering had this to say about Catherine’s voice while working on the project: “I love that your voice has the youthful innocence of early Linda Ronstadt and adds the high range of a Joan Baez or Joni Mitchell. You evoke those artists without even trying just because you share their strengths and are steeped in that ethos, which makes it a genuine sound. I love it!”
The Parrishes are an acoustic duo from Viroqua Wisconsin. Their original songs cross the bridge between folk and blues, using musical knowledge honed through decades of performing, recording, and teaching. Catherine’s soaring vocals are the focal point of all the songs, with their multi-instrumental skills deployed on whichever instruments each song requires, whether guitar, ukulele, mandolin, banjo, or flute.
